Inspired By Masters

by | Sep 22, 2020

If you’re fortunate, every once in a while you get the chance to watch someone who is a total master at what they do.

When that happens, it’s a real treat. Just observing the competence and confidence of a pro up close really inspires!

Recently I’ve had the good fortune of watching such a person.

He’s 76 years-old, been doing his thing for 45 years, and because he sees himself as called and gifted by God, he still helps people with his craft 12 hours a day!

He’s so good at what he does that professional athletes, Olympians, business executives, world-class entertainers — and even presidents — hear about him and seek him out.

As I was watching him at work the other day, I couldn’t help but think of the verse from Proverbs:

“Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men” (Pr.22:29).

I also couldn’t help but ponder something else…

God has given us all something to do with our lives. And because He has, it’s our duty to master what He’s entrusted to us.

Sure, we me may never get to the point where presidents seek us out.

But we can know we’re being used by Him as we serve others.

And, of course… we can look forward to the day that we stand before the King of kings and hear him say, “Well done good and faithful servant” (Mt.25:23).
