Rehab for the Soul

by | Aug 8, 2025

Recently I injured my shoulder.

The therapist told me to do certain exercises every hour.

At first, that seemed excessive.

But it worked.

Within days I could put on a shirt without wincing.

As I thought about it, I realized this is a lot like rehabbing the soul.

Spiritually, we often injure ourselves—through sin, neglect, or just living in a world that wears us down.

We need restoration.

Fresh repentance and faith is where we start.

But to truly regain strength, we must go to the Lord constantly–not just once.

His Word and prayer are like those hourly exercises—small, frequent means He uses to bring steady healing and long-term strength.

This is why the Bible calls us to:

“Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17).

And…

“Meditate on His law day and night” (Ps. 1:2).

It’s not about checking a box.

It’s about constant communion with the One who restores our souls.

For all who are spiritually stiff and sore…

Go to Him regularly–

Let it become the natural rhythm of your life.
