The individualism that has shaped our age can lead you to think whatever you’ve accomplished is due to your own efforts.
And this can make you unmindful of the role others have played in the blessings you experience.
But the reality is…
We are all dependent on the faithful labors of those who have gone before us.
Which would include… parents, grandparents, friends, Christ followers of the past, heroes of the faith or benefactors of any kind.
So take time to remember those who have gone before you.
Honor those who paid a price so you can enjoy what you have and do today.
And learn from history.
The progress you’ve made has come by standing on the shoulders of others.
May this lead you to be faithful in what God has given you to pursue…
As those who come after you will be standing on your shoulders.
‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…’ (Heb.12:1).
