How well are you using your imagination?

by | Jan 5, 2024

Here is an overlooked way to become more usable in God’s kingdom…

Take care of how you use your imagination!

Your imagination is a great gift from God.

And it has an enormous influence on the trajectory of your life.

Yet our imagination is an asset we easily misuse…

To enlarge our fears…

Make mountains of molehills…

Beat ourselves up…

And look on others with unkindness, bitterness, jealousy, suspicion, impurity, etc…

Misusing the imagination in any of theses ways is a vision-killer.

It takes away our ability to see how God is at work and what He is capable of doing.

And it also drains our hearts of hope and meaning.

So take care of how you use your imagination.

A good way to start is by…

… refusing speculations and taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5).

… thinking on those these that are true, right, honorable, pure, lovely and worthy of praise (Phil. 4:8).

… bearing all things, believing all things, hoping all things, enduring all things (1 Cor. 13:7).

Getting control of your imagination is serious business…

It’s because of mankind’s constant misuse of the imagination that God judged the world with the Flood (Gen. 6:5).

Yet it’s also through the gift of the imagination we are able to grow in our vision of the way God is renewing all things (Is. 65:17)…

And see our place in this glorious work.

I believe…

To a large degree, the overall effect of our lives will depend on what we do with our imaginations.
