One of our younger guys made an interesting observation after going through our God-given identity material.
He noted that he didn’t realize how his passivity and escaping through video games was linked to his lack of identity.
This is an insightful comment.
And it explains why there are many men who are inclined to seek some escape rather than engage the world around them.
When men don’t have a sense of their God-given identity…
And specifically lack an understanding that they’ve been called to accomplish something with God…
They are left wondering what to do with their lives…
Become bored and passive — as well as vulnerable to whatever impulse comes their way…
And end up seeking some means of escape.
Some of these means of escape can just be timewasters.
While others are sinful.
In either case…
Any man can engage his world with meaning and purpose…
When He internalizes the truth that God has made him in His image…
With unique gifts…
To advance His kingdom through his circumstances and opportunities.
