Living in the moment

This is the day which the LORD has made; Let’s rejoice and be glad in it.
~ Psalm 118:24

I am not a pro basketball fan.

But I will not forget this observation about Michael Jordan.

His greatness was not in his ability to jump or shoot, but in the way he was always present in the moment.

He did not lament missed shots.

Nor did he worry about upcoming ones.

He just immersed himself in the present, doing what the moment required.

There’s a biblical lesson in this that we can all learn from.

The Apostle Paul, who had plenty to regret, made it his practice to forget what was behind (Phil. 3:13).

And Jesus exhorts His disciples not to be anxious about tomorrow (Mt. 6:34).

So consider this…

You will best fulfill God’s intent for your life…

Not by spending your days regretting the past…

Nor fearing the future…

But by giving your heart, soul, mind and strength to what He has given you to do today.
