Embracing a Growth Mindset

by | Jun 12, 2024

A few years ago a popular book called Mindset was published.

The main idea of the book is that people live with either a fixed mindset or a growth mindset.

Those with a fixed mindset see their abilities and situations as static and unchangeable.

In contrast, those with a growth mindset believe change and development are possible.

Though a secular book, the thesis of Mindset is certainly biblical.

And God’s people can surely live with either a fixed or growth mindset.

The children of Israel wandering in the wilderness illustrate a fixed mindset…

As their hearts and minds were stuck in Egypt, even though God had delivered them.

Yet the Apostle Paul is a good example of someone who lived with a growth mindset…

As he was inclined to forget what was behind and press on toward what lay ahead.

It’s important to see that having a growth mindset is about more than just positive thinking.

It’s rooted in the reality of a sovereign God, who by His grace is making all things new…

And who has begun a work in all who trust Him that will one day be complete.

Going back to the beginning, we can be assured…

Ever since God issued the dominion mandate in the first chapter of Genesis, He has been developing the world according to His purpose.

And this development includes what He is doing in your life today.

Let this help you bring a growth mindset to all you do.
