Boiling things down to three points risks oversimplification.
But it’s handy sometimes.
And I think this is the case as you consider what it takes to fulfill your life mission.
So here goes…
Three essentials for fulfilling your place in God’s world:
- Fulfilling the mission God has for you requires endurance.
- Endurance requires discipline.
- And discipline requires dying daily.
(You might want to read those again and let them sink in.)
Bottom line:
Fulfilling the purpose God has for you is a marathon, not a sprint.
Along the way, you’ll face all kinds of trials that will test you.
James says these tests are meant to strengthen you (see Jas. 1:2-3).
But to get stronger you must accept the discipline required.
And this means dying to your own interests every day for the sake of the mission God has for you.
This is the only way, at the end of your days, to say with Paul…
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” (2 Tim. 4:7).
