Closing the gap

by | Aug 13, 2024

So many of us experience a gap between life in this world and life in God’s kingdom.

This gap can lead to double-mindedness and frustration.

But God never intended for such a gap to exist.

And thanks to Jesus, we don’t have to live in it today.

The gap between this world and God’s kingdom began when Adam chose to live independently from his Creator.

As descendants of Adam, we must learn to navigate both the realities of earthly life and the truths of God’s kingdom.

In doing so, we often find ourselves struggling—holding onto what the world values with one hand and what God values with the other.

This struggle again leads to double-mindedness and frustration.

Yet, one of the blessings of Christ’s redemption is that it closes the gap between the kingdom and the world.

It does so by:

One, reconciling us to the Father (2 Cor. 5:18-19).

Two, making all things new (Rev. 21:5).

Because of this blessing of redemption, we no longer need to live in the gap.

We can live knowing that “the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ…” (Rev. 11:15).

And we can possess a single-minded devotion to glorifying God in the here and now, with what He has given us to do.

May the Spirit help you today to live without a gap between God’s kingdom and your life in this world.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…. (Mt. 6;10).
