Finding the path forward

by | Oct 18, 2024

Men must understand their identity if they’re going to function as God designed them to.

And for young men, this may be even more critical — their ability to function at all could depend on it!

A recent Wall Street Journal article describes a Miami family with four adult children — three sons and a daughter.

Of the four, only the daughter is encaminada, which in Spanish means “on the path to independent adulthood.”

The sons are still living in their childhood bedrooms.

As their father puts it:

“Something has gone amiss here…”

“We love them, we love having them around, but this isn’t how you build a life.”

This dad is absolutely right.

And he’s not alone in his assessment.

Unfortunately, the lack of motivation and direction among young men has become a widespread issue…

Leaving both them and their parents disillusioned.

But there’s a solution.

It starts with young men discovering their God-given identity.

Only when a young man understands who he is will he know what he’s meant to do.

At the core of a man’s identity is the truth that God made him in His image — to be fruitful and partner with Him in developing the world.

I explore this idea in detail in my new book, The Identity Advantage.

If you have a young man in your life who is struggling to find his identity, get him a copy.

Better yet, get one for yourself too, so you can go through it with him.

Our future depends on helping young men gain the kind of confidence that only comes from knowing who God made them to be.
