Where is your marketplace of ideas?

Engaging the modern Mars Hill…

In the first century, the Apostle Paul preached at Mars Hill (Acts 17:16-34).

It was a place where citizens and leaders debated important ideas.

For much of history, we had similar forums—like town meetings where people gathered to discuss and shape their communities.

But today? Even politicians rarely hold town meetings anymore.

Instead, the modern marketplace of ideas has shifted online.

Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X dominate public conversation.

For years, I dismissed social media as unimportant. That was a mistake.

Whether we like it or not, these platforms are shaping the world.

And if we want to engage meaningfully, we need to show up where the conversations are happening.

That’s why I’ve started posting regularly on X.

I invite you to follow me there: x.com/djbostrom

Now, I get it—social media isn’t for everyone.

And for those who use it, caution is wise.

It should never replace real person-to-person connection.

And you must guard against it becoming a distraction rather than a tool.

But no matter where you engage, the question remains:

Where is your marketplace of ideas?

Where do you get your ideas?

And where do you share them?

We all need a place to learn and a place to speak the truth in love.

Find yours.
