“Indeed the safest road to Hell is the gradual one—the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.”
~ C.S. Lewis, The Screwtape Letters
How easily we forget we are in a battle between good and evil.
This is especially true if life feels comfortable — as it does for most of us.
But a battle is what we’re in.
It began when God pitted the seed of the woman against the seed of the serpent (Gen.3:15).
And continues today, as we contend with the principalities and powers of this world’s darkness (Eph. 6:12).
Ignoring the reality of spiritual battle puts us in a dangerous position.
It leads us to:
– Tolerate the intolerable.
– Stay silent when we should speak.
– Remain passive when we should act.
One of Satan’s most effective strategies is to lull us into apathy and complacency…
To convince us that all is well while an unseen battle is raging.
Recognizing this isn’t a reason to fear but a call to vigilance, urging us to overcome evil with good.
Remember too…
The world will tempt you to seek safety in neutrality…
But you can only defeat what is wrong with what is right.
So don’t hesitate to have a point of view… and take a stand — it’s essential for you to stay strong and prevail.
‘Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour’ (1 Peter 5:8).
