D-Day and the Kingdom of God

by | Jun 6, 2024

Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day…

A day to commemorate the Allied invasion of the beaches at Normandy on June 6, 1944.

D-Day set the stage for the eventual defeat of the Axis powers in Europe during World War II.

There was still ongoing fighting that took place until VE Day, 11 months later, when the Nazis unconditionally surrendered.

But the invasion at Normandy made total victory in Europe certain.

The Allied experience between D-Day and VE Day gives us an analogy of the coming of Christ to establish His kingdom.

Through His ministry, death and resurrection, Jesus initiated His kingdom on earth.

It was D-Day for all humanity!

Since then there’s been plenty of battles and work to advance His rule.

But because Christ turned the tide of human history with His coming, His complete dominion over all things on earth is sure to come.

It’s with this assurance you can labor in your own calling today with hope.

“… the kingdom of God is in your midst” (Lk. 17:21).
