There’s a guy in one of our MfD groups who is a missionary in Guatemala.
In one of our meetings, he pointed out that the Spanish word for entertainment is based on the same word from which we get our word diversion.
When he said this, I couldn’t help but see the contrast between dominion and diversion.
And it occurred to me that the battle we face every day is clear…
Will we pursue dominion in the domains God has given us or will we give ourselves over to diversions?
The battle is a tough one.
Diversions are everywhere.
They also tend to be easy and fun.
And soothe our anxieties.
But God made us for dominion.
To be fruitful, multiply, rule, cultivate and protect.
So the question we face daily is:
What will it be… dominion or diversion?
Lord, keep me from the diversions that take me away from the good you’ve called me to do.
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (Jas. 4:8).
