According to a recent study…
“Christians believe they should share biblical solutions to address America’s cultural issues, but many feel unequipped or ‘afraid’ due to cultural pressure.”
Here are some highlights from the research:
- Only 30 percent of Christians actively seek opportunities to discuss biblical truths with people outside the church.
- Just one in four believers feel they have the necessary tools to engage in such dialogue.
- 31% describe themselves as ‘reluctant’ or ‘indifferent’ about sharing their faith-centered views.
- 80% of evangelical Christians admit they struggle to apply the Bible to life’s most important questions.
- And while 87% believe the Bible speaks to current issues, a minority are actually ‘doers of the Word’ in this area.
The study underscores the need for equipping and emboldening believers today.
To meet this need, churches must do more to help Christians connect the principles of their faith with the issues surrounding them.
Yet there are also immediate steps any individual believer can take to improve the situation.
First, acknowledge Jesus as Lord over all.
When believers embrace Christ’s lordship over every aspect of life, courage follows.
And His authority becomes the starting point for considering every issue under the sun.
Second, love your neighbor.
This goes beyond the typical acts of care and kindness.
It includes addressing issues—and even voting—in ways that reflect biblical principles…
To protect and enable our neighbors to flourish.
Christians already hold the solutions to the political and cultural challenges that afflict society.
But applying them requires equipping and courage.
The Bible tells us…
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Ps. 24:1).
And He’s commissioned us to cultivate and keep the earth with Him (Gen. 1:28; 2:15).
So have no fear or shame in applying your faith to the issues of the day.
