Faith-Driven Innovation and the Kingdom of God

You probably know that Michelin has a reputation for producing some of the best tires in the world.

You might also know that Michelin developed the first practical radial tires, which have become the standard for most cars, trucks, and even some heavy machinery.

But you probably don’t know that the improved performance these tires provide was inspired by the dominion mandate in the book of Genesis.

That’s right.

The developer of radial tires, François Michelin, saw work as a process of participating in God’s act of creation.

And he believed he was doing God’s work by creatively serving others for their betterment and God’s glory.

Thanks to Michelin’s innovative outlook, tires have become more durable, safe, and fuel-efficient.

Now, you may have nothing to do with manufacturing.

But if your faith is in Christ, you are part of the world’s greatest enterprise—the kingdom of God.

And you play a part in growing this enterprise as you use your gifts, time, and energy to humbly and creatively serve others in God’s name.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another…” (1 Pet. 4:10).
