Faithful men take initiative

by | Dec 27, 2024

In a world that often waits for someone else to step up, faithful men take initiative.

Initiative is a hallmark of good, godly leadership.

It’s about seeing what needs to be done and stepping up to do it, even when no one asks.

What is initiative?

The ability to assess and begin things independently—the power to take charge before being told to, or forced to.

Some biblical examples of initiative include:

David–Faced Goliath with courage and trust in God when others hesitated (1 Sam. 17).

Nehemiah–Rebuilt Jerusalem’s walls, rallying people to act for God’s glory (Neh. 2:11-18).

Good Samaritan–Took action to help an injured man while others passed by (Luke 10:30-37).

So how can you take more initiative?

1. See the needs around you.

2. Trust God.

3. Act boldly.

Faithful men don’t wait for others to act.

They take the first step, trusting God to guide their efforts.
