How Christmas increases resolve…
Christmas has a way of supplying hope and bolstering resilience — even in the toughest times.
One of my favorite accounts of this comes from the Battle of the Bulge in 1944.
The 101st Airborne Division was surrounded by enemy forces in Bastogne, Belgium.
The troops faced overwhelming odds.
On Christmas Eve, General Anthony McAuliffe received an ultimatum from the Germans demanding surrender.
His now-famous response was a single word: “Nuts!”
That defiant reply lifted the spirits of his troops, helping them hold their ground through unimaginable adversity.
This spirit of hope and resilience isn’t just a military story—it’s rooted in Scripture.
In Isaiah 9:2, the prophet foretold the coming of Jesus, saying:
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned.
Jesus’ birth has brought light to the world’s darkness, offering us hope in bleak circumstances.
As you face your own struggles this season, may God give you peace, strength, and purpose.
And as the soldiers in Bastogne stood firm, may He increase your resolve in every challenge.
Don’t give up the fight!
