Jesus is Lord

The statement “Jesus is Lord” is foundational—essential to both life and liberty.

When someone says, “Jesus is Lord,” it might sound like an enthusiastic declaration of a believer.

But it’s far more profound.

“Jesus is Lord” is one of the earliest confessions of faith, going back to the apostles:

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

But this proclamation isn’t just about Jesus’s authority over the church—it underscores His absolute sovereignty over every sphere of life.

As Lord, He breaks the chains of sin’s bondage (Luke 4:18).

And as the King of kings and Lord of lords, His authority extends over all nations and governments (1 Tim. 6:15).

This isn’t only a future promise.

Jesus actively reigns now (Heb. 10:12-13).

And it should shape our laws, our societies, and our daily choices

When we fail to acknowledge Jesus as Lord, we find ourselves in bondage.

Under the weight of our own depravity.

And eventually under the tyranny of the state as it takes the place of God.

Denying that ‘Jesus is Lord’ leads to enslavement — personally and culturally.

Embracing it leads to true freedom.

Reflect on what acknowledging Jesus as Lord means in your own life…

Are there any changes you need to make?

In your personal life, and as you engage the world around you?

Because your life and liberty depend on it.
