Keeping an optimistic vision…
My friend Jay has written an excellent commentary on the book of Daniel called The Days of These Kings.
He summarizes the book’s message and promise with these words:
The overarching message of Daniel is that Jesus the Messiah is even now ruling over the nations. He is the King of kings. Daniel tells us that Messiah’s kingdom will advance in the whole world from “generation to generation” (Daniel 4:4,34). Christ’s dominion is “given to the people of the saints of the most High” (Daniel 7:22). Our purpose then is to see “all people, nations, and languages … serve and obey him” (Daniel 7:14,27).
Did you catch the hope in those words?
God’s victory is sure.
He is establishing a kingdom that will never be destroyed (Daniel 2:44).
I share this today to encourage you: keep an optimistic, long-term vision.
In the short term, we will face struggles.
Each day brings its ups and downs.
But the trajectory is clear.
His kingdom will prevail, in all the nations of this world.
And Christ’s dominion has been given to you!
So think, believe, and act accordingly.
