Showing up for Christmas

Incarnating the love of Christ…

Christmas is a season of joy.

But for many men, it quietly becomes a season of withdrawal.

Stress rises. Expectations pile up. Emotions get murky…

And our instinct is often to pull back—to go quiet, distract ourselves, or simply endure.

Scripture confronts that tendency head-on:

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14).

God did not save the world from a distance.

He showed up—in a body, entering all the complexities and disappointments of our fallen world.

And because of Christ’s incarnation, we are called to live with that same embodied presence.

Christmas isn’t asking you to feel more festive or manufacture joy.

It’s a call to show up.

To be present with your wife and children.

To stay engaged when it’s uncomfortable.

To lead quietly, serve faithfully, and remain connected when it would be easier to check out.

Emotional maturity isn’t the absence of sadness or stress.

It’s staying present in love when those things are real.

This Christmas—in an increasingly disconnected world—one of the most meaningful things you can give isn’t a gift or a mood.

It’s your presence.

So show up. Like God did for us.
