Once again, people are saying, “This is the most important election we’ve ever had.”
Politically speaking, they might be right.
It may even hold true for the future of America.
But for you, personally…
No matter what happens in tomorrow’s election—or in the days that follow—the most important election has already taken place.
At the foundation of the world, God elected you to belong to Him—as His child, His heir, and a citizen of His kingdom (Eph. 1:1-12).
I don’t say this to sound clever… to spiritualize away real-world issues… or to minimize the importance of tomorrow’s vote.
I say it to remind us that regardless of the results…
God remains on His throne (Ps. 103:19).
Jesus will still be at the right hand of the Father, reigning and waiting for all His enemies to become His footstool (Heb. 10:12-13).
And through His Spirit, He will continue “making all things new” (Rev. 21:5).
Beyond that…
Whatever tomorrow brings, God still has a role for you in His ongoing work of redemption right where you are.
Let’s be honest…
Regardless of the election’s outcome, our culture will continue to need deep repentance and renewal.
This is primary, and essential for our future.
And it’s not something we can vote in.
It can only happen as God’s people live out the truth that we have already been chosen to be salt and light.
“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit…” (Jn. 15:16).
