Why the Holy Spirit remains central to God’s purpose today…
Who is the most important person in the world today?
The answer might surprise you.
The most important person in the world has been—and continues to be—the Holy Spirit.
I say this not to diminish the roles of the Father and the Son…
But to highlight the Holy Spirit’s unique and vital role in carrying out the triune God’s purposes in the world.
Consider:
-The Spirit was present at creation, playing a key role in the forming and giving life to the universe (Gen. 1:2).
-The Spirit empowers the Messiah to bring freedom, healing, and salvation to God’s people (Is. 61:1).
-The Holy Spirit teaches us, brings God’s Word to remembrance, and leads us in the truth (Jn. 14:26).
-The Holy Spirit gifts and empowers believers to advance God’s kingdom (1 Cor. 12:4-7, Acts 1:8).
-The Spirit raises up rulers according to God’s purpose (Dan. 2:21).
Notice how the Spirit is vital in everything—working in our world, in the church, and in each of us.
So stay close to the Spirit…
Do not quench Him or grieve Him.
Rather, keep aligned with His leading, as you play your part in what He is doing today.
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit” (Gal. 5:25).
