I’m just finishing reading Kings and Chronicles in the Bible.
From the accounts of the different kings of Israel and Judah, a clear lesson emerges…
When the kings and their people follow God, they are blessed and things go well for them…
But when they turn their hearts away from Him and pursue their own idolatrous ideas, they suffer harm.
Since God is the same yesterday, today and forever, this same principle applies to us in our own time.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…” (Ps.33:12) remains true.
And by extension…
Cursed are those who trust in man and make flesh their strength (Jer. 17:5).
If you are concerned about your nation…
And desire to see the Lord’s dominion and true justice cover the earth…
The best thing you can do is turn to the Lord…
In your heart…
Through your prayers…
And in your actions in all your daily life…
And encourage others to do the same.
The nations must fear and know… they are merely men (Ps.9:20).
Our well-being, security, peace and prosperity all depend on the Lord.
So He says…
“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other” (Is.45:22).
The secret of blessed nations is their disposition is toward the Lord–not against Him and His ways.
God, give us grace to turn to you.
