The Shepherd Who Walks With Us

His presence is enough—even in the valley

My apologies for missing my posts the last couple of weekdays.

My mother died last Thursday.

Her passing was not unexpected.

But the death of a close loved one always brings with it a flood of thoughts, memories—and sometimes surprises—that make grief hard to bear.

This is why the 23rd Psalm is so often recalled in times of loss.

It begins those familiar words:

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” (Ps. 23:1).

The biblical metaphor of the shepherd conveys the kind of caring, guidance, provision, and comfort that anyone who is grieving longs for.

But the Lord as Shepherd is not just for those who mourn.

He is for anyone navigating the troubles of life in this world.

Jesus ultimately fulfills this role as the Good Shepherd, who laid down His life for the sheep.

And in Him, no matter what you are facing…

– You are not alone.
– You are cared for.
– You are led with purpose.
– You are safe in His hands.
– You are loved with sacrificial love.

I don’t know what you may be facing today.

Maybe it’s a pressing need.

Maybe it’s weariness.

Maybe it’s sorrow

Whatever it is, turn to the one who is able to shepherd you with expert care.

“Now may the God of peace who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will…” (Heb. 13:20-21).
