A simple way to regain perspective and move forward…
A friend shared with me that yesterday didn’t go as planned.
It left him discouraged.
Stuck in a funk.
Even questioning his hope.
Ever been there?
I know I have.
It’s a universal experience, don’t you think?
And it’s surprising how quickly unmet expectations can pull you into a dark place.
So — what can you do when that happens?
Here’s a simple approach that’s helped me:
1. Resist the pull of anxiety.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:6)
2. Ask God for wisdom.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:5)
3. Trust His providence — and take the next step forward.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
When life doesn’t go as planned, it’s easy to get stuck.
Discouragement can lead to despair. And despair can immobilize.
But here’s the truth:
Your circumstances don’t have the final say. God does.
His rule hasn’t wavered, and His purposes for you haven’t changed.
So take heart. Even when hope seems faint — He’s still at work.
Take your thoughts captive, and turn them in a Godward direction.
