Christ is King today, not just in the future…
Christians are used to celebrating Christmas and Easter.
But one of the most important days on the Christian calendar often passes unnoticed:
Ascension Day.
Forty days after His resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven before His disciples (Acts 1:9).
This was more than a departure scene.
It was a coronation.
The ascension means the risen Christ now reigns as Lord over heaven and earth.
As Paul writes:
“God raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand… far above all rule and authority and power and dominion…” (Eph. 1:20–21).
The ascension reminds us that Jesus is not merely a personal Savior.
He is the reigning King.
Right now, Christ rules over nations, history, and every sphere of life. Right now, all authority belongs to Him.
That changes how we should live.
History is not out of control.
Christ rules over it.
Our labor is not meaningless.
Faithfulness matters.
Building families, discipling children, serving faithfully in our vocations, and advancing Christ’s kingdom in everyday life all matter because the ascended Christ rules over it all.
Ascension Day lifts our eyes beyond fear and discouragement.
No earthly ruler or cultural movement has ultimate dominion.
Jesus does.
And He reigns now.
