As a backslidden nation, the last thing we need is a celebration of pride.
Humility is what’s in order, and may God help us find it.
The Bible says much about the dangers of pride.
It warns us…
God is opposed to the proud (Jas. 4:6)…
And…
Walking in pride leads to destruction (Pr. 16:18).
But to the humble…
God gives grace (Jas. 4:6)…
And He raises them up in due time (1 Pet. 5:6)
So in a month devoted to pride, walk humbly.
At it’s root, pride assumes to know better than God.
This may show itself in extreme ways like trying to change one’s gender.
But more commonly, it just ignores His commands.
In any case, pride seeks to overthrow God’s order.
Yet the Lord blesses humility.
And as His people pursue it, it brings the hope of healing to a nation.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
