I’m convinced one of the best ways to increase your growth as a believer is to remember:
God is personal.
An unfortunate consequence of our world becoming more impersonal is that we can begin to view God that way.
But He is not distant, abstract, or merely a force.
Scripture reveals a God who relates…
He speaks: “My sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27).
He knows: “You have searched me and known me” (Psalm 139:1).
He draws near: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you” (James 4:8).
And most clearly…
God makes Himself known in Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, who walked among men, spoke with them, and still calls them to follow Him today.
God is personal.
He sees you.
He knows your thoughts.
He calls you by name.
He has not remained far away. He dwells, by His Spirit, with His people.
And this changes how you live.
You are not performing for a distant authority—you are walking with a present God.
You are not left alone—you are led.
You are not unseen—your faithfulness matters.
So answer His call and live with awareness.
Speak to Him throughout your day.
Listen as you read His Word.
Respond when He convicts and leads.
Like Abraham, who walked with God and built a life of lasting impact, you are called to do the same.
Don’t forget the personal nature of your God.
He is your Shepherd, King, Redeemer, Helper—and He is near.
“The Lord is near to all who call on him…” (Ps. 145:18).
