What will it take to renew America?

Recovering Covenant Faithfulness…

As we continue anticipating America’s 250th birthday, here’s another question worth asking:

What will it take to renew America?

Many assume America’s renewal will come through better elections, stronger leaders, or new policies.

While those things have their place, our nation’s deepest need is spiritual before political.

The Pilgrims understood this well.

Before there was a Constitution, there was a covenant.

The Mayflower Compact began with the words, “In the name of God, Amen,” and declared the settlers’ desire to order their new society for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.

They understood that a free and flourishing people must first acknowledge God’s authority and faithfully bind themselves to one another.

That’s the heart of covenant living.

Covenant produces faithfulness.

Faithfulness builds trust.

And trust is the foundation of every healthy family, church, community, and nation.

When covenant commitments are abandoned, trust erodes. Relationships weaken. Communities fracture.

And freedom itself becomes difficult to sustain.

If America is to flourish in the years ahead, we need more than a rebirth of patriotism.

We need renewed faithfulness—to God, to our families, to our churches, and to one another.

That’s where the renewal of our nation must begin.

It starts with our own covenant faithfulness.
