Protecting against scammers is everyone’s calling

by | Mar 13, 2024

A friend shared how he was the victim of a fairly elaborate scam.

As we talked about it, we noted the need to protect against scammers goes all the way back to the Gardern of Eden.

In Genesis 2:15, God told Adam to “cultivate and keep” the garden.

The word ‘keep’ in that context carries the idea of watching over, guarding and protecting.

Which is something Adam needed to be doing when he encountered the original scammer — who was the devil in the form of a serpent.

These days scammers take many forms.

And frequently pose as…

-government authorities

-staff of some company’s security department

-investment or debt relief advisors

-imposters of someone you know

-charities

-etc.

Dealing with scammers is part of life in a fallen world.

And in a culture that rejects God, scammers increase.

So consider this a public service announcement.

Don’t let yourself get cynical…

But do keep your guard up as you oversee your own garden-world where God has placed you.

Protecting against scammers is everyone’s calling.
