Serving God where He has you

by | Jan 3, 2024

A lot of people are unhappy with their place in life.

And we all can be tempted to assume our lives would have more significance and bring more satisfaction if our situation was different and more to our liking.

But the truth is…

All any of us can do is serve God well in the position He has us.

This is one of the messages that comes from the story of Joseph.

After being unjustly accused, Joseph found Himself in prison (Gen. 39:19-23).

He was there for at least two years. Maybe as many as 13.

While there, Joseph didn’t dwell on the injustice done to him.

Rather, he focused on excelling in everything committed to his charge.

In this, God was with Joseph.

And He was active behind the scenes, working circumstances out for good (Gen. 50:20).

To believe God is at work in your situation takes faith.

Especially if you see yourself trapped in a prison.

But wherever you are, you can serve the Lord there.

And you never know how He will use your acts of faithfulness today in His larger story tomorrow.

So serve God well, wherever He has you.

Even if it’s a prison.

“If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him” (Jn. 12:26).
