Labor Day is over and multitudes are setting their minds–and bodies–back to work.
This is good.
From the very beginning, God gave mankind work.
Before sin ever entered the world, Adam was called to cultivate and keep the garden.
Work was never a punishment—it was a gift.
But when Adam fell, work became burdened with thorns and sweat.
What was meant to be fruitful became frustrating.
We still feel that curse every day: projects stall, plans fail, fatigue sets in.
Yet in Christ, work is redeemed.
His cross doesn’t remove labor from our lives—it restores it to its purpose.
Paul tells us, “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure” (Phil. 2:12–13).
Notice the order: God works in, we work out.
Our labor in the Lord isn’t self-powered hustle—it’s the outflow of His Spirit at work within us.
So whatever your calling—shaping young minds, repairing machines, leading a team, serving your family—your work is no longer meaningless toil…
It’s participation in God’s unfolding plan.
And as you return to it this week, remember the One who labored for you.
Christ’s finished work gives meaning to all your unfinished tasks.
