The foundation beneath everything else…
People often speak of God being at the center of everything.
But what does that actually mean?
It means God is not simply important. He is ultimate.
He stands above creation as the sovereign Creator and Lord.
Everything exists because of Him, depends on Him, and is sustained by Him.
As Scripture says, “In Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28).
Life itself is not independent from God—it is continually upheld by Him.
This is what it means to speak of God’s transcendence.
He is not one influence among many. He is the source behind all reality.
Everything else derives its meaning, purpose, and authority from Him.
This changes how we understand life.
If God is ultimate, then nothing in life is neutral.
Every area—work, family, decisions, identity—must be seen in relation to Him.
It also means we are not self-sufficient.
We are dependent creatures, designed to live in alignment with our Creator.
When a man starts here, confusion begins to clear.
Life stops being something he has to invent or control on his own terms.
Instead, it becomes something he receives and responds to under God’s order.
This is the starting point for everything in life.
Everything begins with God.
