The Psalms as a Spiritual Dominion Manual for Men

by | May 22, 2026

Forming faithful men in the real world…

Every day I read something from the Psalms.

Most Christians think of the Psalms as songs, prayers, and worship.

And they are.

But the more I read them, the more I see them as something else too:

A spiritual dominion manual for men.

The Psalms train men how to live before God while carrying responsibility in the real world.

They teach men how to:

* trust God under pressure
* lead with integrity
* endure hardship
* repent after failure
* think generationally
* prepare for conflict
* steward responsibility faithfully

Here are 10 Psalms I’ve found especially helpful for men pursuing faithful dominion:

• Psalm 1 roots a man in truth.
• Psalm 2 humbles a man under the true King.
• Psalm 8 commissions a man for stewardship.
• Psalm 15 forms a man of integrity.
• Psalm 18 strengthens a man for battle.
• Psalm 23 steadies a man in trust.
• Psalm 51 restores a man through repentance.
• Psalm 78 enlarges a man with generational vision.
• Psalm 127 reminds a man to depend on God.
• Psalm 144 prepares a man for conflict and responsibility.

Together, these form a spiritual framework for cultivating and keeping the domains God entrusts to men.

If you haven’t spent much time in the Psalms recently, I’d encourage you to do so.

Read them slowly.

Meditate on them.

Pray through them.

Over time, you’ll find them not only shaping your worship, but strengthening your capacity to live faithfully as a man in your world.
