Jesus humiliated for you

by | Mar 26, 2024

Any kind of humiliation that takes place should get our attention.

And especially so if it’s the humiliation of Jesus.

Theologians call Christ’s willingness to take on human flesh, suffer, and die His ‘humilation.’

This is a fitting term, because it is what Jesus experienced.

Jesus faced humiliation by foregoing all the privileges of deity and becoming a man.

And He suffered humiliation in the shame and death that occurred during His passion and crucifixion.

It is one thing to recall that Jesus died for our sins.

But realizing He was also humiliated for us helps us understand what He’s done on a different level.

And appreciating this was all done voluntarily out of love — by an innocent man — presses the point:

Your redeemed life is nothing to waste.

‘He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him’ (2 Cor. 5:21).
