When Jesus entered Jerusalem the people hailed Him as a king.
And this was fitting, because He came as their King…
In direct fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy (Zech. 9:9).
Yet Jesus didn’t advance His rule as the people expected.
They were looking for a show of earthly might.
But He came to rule by sacrificial love.
As He would demonstrate through His death later in the week (Rom. 5:8).
Christ’s followers extend His kingdom in the same way.
Not by means of worldly power.
But by loving, sacrificial service…
Wherever He calls us.
Where is God calling you to bring His sacrificial love today?
‘We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren’ (1 Jn. 3:16).
