Your life’s ROI

by | May 24, 2023

It occurred to me the other day…

Jesus is looking for a good return on investment (ROI) from His people.

To put our relationship with God in business terms like this may seem crass — but there is a legitimate basis for doing so.

The Bible tells us we have been ‘bought with a price’ (1 Cor.6:20)…

So our lives belong to God… and we ought to glorify Him with them.

Then also, the Gospel of Matthew gives us the Parable of the Talents (Mt. 25:14ff.).

In that parable… a master entrusts three servants with various talents to leverage and multiply according to their ability.

When the master returns, each servant is called to give an account.

The simplest application of this for us is that we too are stewards for God…

Called and gifted to serve Him and the interests of His kingdom…

Knowing the day will come when our Master will evaluate the ROI of our lives.

The responsibility of this sobering… and should get our attention of we are living in a spiritual slumber.

But there is also something exhilarating and motivating about this.

God has given each of us time, talents and treasure to use for Him…

In our unique time and place.

And there is nothing that gives more meaning to our activity and reason for getting out of bed each morning than this!

So consider your life’s ROI.

Assess your gifts, resources and opportunities…

Plan and execute them in such a way to make the most for God’s kingdom.

And strive to hear Him say…

‘Well done, good and faithful servant’! (Mt.25:23).
